Dodged Bullets.

Ever have to make those choices that are super strenuous, life-changing, uncertain, and just straight confusing...and you always wonder if you'll make the right one?

I just looked back into a situation and realized that I dodged a bullet. A big one. In fact, in life, I've dodged MANY big bullets.

Either I'm quick...or someone upstairs has a bigger plan in mind. Clue: I live on the top floor so there's no creepy building tenant that I'm referring to. Good times.

What do I make of this? One minute I think I understand it all and the next, my world's a whirlwind of mis-communication and ill-timed questions. All I can say is that I thought I knew, but now...apparently, I'm the one sitting in the cold with no way to find out what happened...

I might be a million days late, but apparently Twitter is the new rave. It's basically xanga meshed with facebook, all linked to the internet or mobile phone. Essentially, you log-in, blog a really short statement about what you are doing at that very moment (much like the facebook status option), and then all of your friends hear about it.

So let me rephrase: it's basically writing a single-line text message for everyone to read.

What I think: I signed up for it to see just how cool it was. Honestly, I'll probably use it a few times and then forget that I have an account.

This leads me to my next point...

Using the phone can be fun. Remember?
So, I'm not the greatest phone person. Seriously. I hate holding the receiver to my face because it gets hot...and then potentially sweaty during summer weather. I hate that you can't do anything while you're on the phone because (a) the person on the other end can tell when you're not paying attention, (b) you can't eat while on the phone because the mouth piece is too close and chewing gets too loud, (c) you often don't realize how loud you're talking and people end up hearing your conversations.

But what I do love about the phone is simple: it's personal. It makes us know that we're connected, that we actually have a conversation going on. It's real, you know that the person on the other end is who you intended to talk to. Audible laughter is better than HAHA and LOL...it makes me smile at least. In short, you can feel emotion (as weird as that sounds).

So let's not forget where the phone got us. After all, Alexander Graham Bell would be ashamed at us if we did.

P.S. - I still love text messages. Send me some typed-out love. Oh, and AIM/GChat...let's not forget about you. Hugs all around.

Funny story: I was really hungry the other day and decided that I wanted a sandwich and soup. As I was pouring fresh Butternut Squash Bisque, I started looking over at the bread bowls. Due to my impending excitement, I never stopped to look at my bowl which was starting to overflow. One ladle too many and HOT soup started to drip all over my forearm and fingers.

"OUCH!" I yelled, covered in steamy, yellow cream soup.

The guy next to me stares and says "Ooh, that looks tasty."

What the.

I love music.

An album you should all check out is We Sing, We Dance, We Steal by Jason Mraz. It's an interesting one with a lot of good songs...different from the garbage on the radio right now. Take a chance...on Hwang's word.

Summer Crush

October's here...meaning that either Indian Summer in SF is in full effect or Autumn's officially arrived.

It's hard for me to decide which I'd rather have...the early darkness and warm, romantic winds...or the longer nights to explore the depths of SF.

All I can say is this...I do miss SD a lot right now...I miss the friends that decided to stay in so-cal...and I miss the beach and quiet crashing of the tide against the cliffs.

Thought: If people have Summer Crushes...does that mean they also have Fall Flings? Careful now...

I'm addicted to the Olympics.

I can't help but watch everything...including rowing, boxing, and softball.

What can I say, I'm patriotic. Go America!

Meanwhile, does anyone think it's funny that the US is able to basically adopt awesome foreigners for table tennis, distance running, and other sports? Go Melting Pot!
